For each incident the charges is $25. This does not include request for medication refills which are at no charge. We do have an online pharmacy for most medications and nutritional items.

Ophthalmology

Ophthalmic issues require the utmost in treatment and care, as they may result in pain, loss of vision, or cause additional disease and illness to your animal. Prompt examination by an experienced veterinarian is crucial in combating devastating injury or disease in the eye because ophthalmic problems escalate very rapidly. Dr. Victoria combines friendly care with a treatment protocol that suits you and your animal’s specific needs. Large animal eye disorders are seen commonly, and often include:

  • Injury to the eye and surrounding tissues
  • Nasolacrimal duct/excessive tearing
  • Corneal Ulcers
  • Recurrent Uveitis
  • Glaucoma
  • Cataracts
  • Squamous Cell Carcinoma and other cancers

Immediate diagnostics and treatment are the defining factor in determining the outcome of an ophthalmic issue.

Lameness

Lameness, any abnormality in an animal’s movement or stance, can have a diverse collection of causes in the large animal. Success in treatment relies on thorough evaluation to ensure proper treatment as soon as possible and to prevent the condition from worsening. MVS offers the extensive diagnostic tools needed to offer a complete analysis of your animal’s issue. The most common cause of lameness is musculoskeletal pain, although mechanical issues, neurological deficits, and acute injury are seen often as well.

Diagnostics used in Lameness Evaluation include:

  • Physical Exam
  • Hoof Testers
  • Flexion Tests
  • Diagnostic Imaging (radiographs, ultrasonography)
  • Nerve Blocks

Although the most prevalent presentation of lameness is some form of limping or unsoundness, other symptoms such as poor performance or change in attitude are also an indicator that a lameness exam may be in order. For questions regarding MVS’s Lameness Evaluations and treatment options, please call 352-388-9071
